THREE men were taken to hospital following a two car collision in Cleveleys.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the crash involving a Ford transit van and a Ford Mondeo at the junction of West Drive and Amounderness Way at 7.10am this morning.

Firefighters used cutting equipment to release the driver trapped in the Mondeo, who was then taken by ambulance to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with suspected back, rib and hip injuries.

The driver and passenger of the transit van were also taken to hospital after suffering facial injuries.

Motorists faced severe delays after West Drive was closed from Eversleigh Avenue and Amounderness Way shut southbound from Bourne Way.

Police re-opened both roads at 9.30am.

Not surprising this has happened at that junction because the number of people that jump the lights is unbelievable.
Cameras would sort it out.

it needs slowing to 30 on all aproaches here then hopefully this would reduce the number of accidents

The speed limit is not the problem. If drivers obeyed the Traffic Lights these sort of accidents could not happen. Agree with T/Light cameras and a ban with retest for anyone going through on a red light.
Also a quick look to the right and left before proceeding especially if the lights have just gone to Green may be enough to see the Red (and Amber) gambler.
