CYCLISTS have been warned to be on their guard after a spate of thefts in Wyre.
Police say more than 35 bikes, most of them in Fleetwood, have been stolen since June 1 with most of those stolen left unsecured, some for just a couple of minutes.

Temporary Sgt Brian Reynolds from Fleetwood police station said: "Our advice would always be to ensure your bike is security marked and that you use the strongest chain or lock you can afford and secure it to a robust fixed object."

Sgt Reynolds said police will be targeting those on bikes that have had their appearance drastically changed and are being ridden without lights as part of Lancashire police' Summer Nights operation.

Anyone who has information about bike thefts can call Fleetwood police on (01253) 876611 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

What a sweeping statement "police will be targeting those on bikes being ridden without lights". Its impossible to find a cyclist who uses lights when its dark. Does this mean every cyclist is now a target?

"Crisis in Cleveleys" says the headline. The article doesn't even mention Cleveleys thereafter - it is all about Fleetwood. Spot on as usual.
