EVER-say-die skipper Paul Danson is calling on his Blackpool players to fight right to the last ball of the season in the battle for the Northern Premier League title.
With two games left, Danson admits the destiny of the title has been taken out of Blackpool's hands by a dramatic Netherfield revival that has put the Cumbrians in the driving seat.

Netherfield surged from fourth place to three points clear last w
eekend while title rivals Blackpool and Morecambe were cancelling each other out in a dour draw and Danson said it's win or bust over the next eight days.

Danson, who led Blackpool to third place three years ago, said: "If Netherfield win both games and take maximum points by batting first, then it's all over.

"But they've got two tricky games, against unpredictable Preston and Morecambe, so we've got to believe we can still win the championship. We've played good cricket and deserve to be where we are."

Should Preston provide a helping hand by thwarting Netherfield, then Danson could be on the brink of being the first captain to bring the title to Stanley Park since David Mathers 18 years ago.

"Netherfield like to bat first and if they win both tosses they'll go for maximum points by bowling out the opposition. We're not playing for draws – we'll be playing positively to win both games."

Blackpool have the bonus of playing their final two matches at Stanley Park, where Barrow are the visitors tomorrow and Chorley a week later.

"Let's hope Preston do us a favour tomorrow but we can't rely on that.

I will be hoping to win the toss, bat first and take maximum points.

But we can't under-estimate Barrow. They are a decent side and have beaten their fair share of good sides.

"Hopefully we've enough in our armoury to bowl them out. Our bowlers have performed well all season and let's hope they keep up the good work."

Fourthbottom last season, Blackpool have proved to be this season's NPL success story no matter what unfurls next weekend.

"Whatever we achieve will exceed all expectations," added allrounder Danson, completing his fifth year in charge.

"To go into the last two weeks just three points off the top was never on the agenda, which was to finish as high as possible and enjoy a cup run.

"This is testimony to how well the lads have worked . A lot is due to our coach Mick Moore, who brought in fresh ideas and a structure."

Young players such as Luis Reece, Richard Gleeson and James Smith have gathered pace this summer but Danson steadfastly avoids citing personal examples.

"We're Team Blackpool. I don't want to class us as a team of individuals. If you win things, you do so collectively. Granted, certain individuals have made key performances but every single member of the side has a responsibility and a role to play. All the lads have chipped in."
