JUST when you think Blackpool Panthers RL have fitted the final piece into their jigsaw for 2009, they slot in another.
Mark McCully, who signed last week from Workington Town, was expected to be the final addition to their squad for next season.

But now the club have announced the signing of back-row forward Ian Hodson on a 12-month deal following his release by Oldham.

The 6ft 1", 15½ stone forward made 75 appearances over four seasons with the Roughyeds, the most recent in the National League Two grand final defeat by Doncaster.

Panthers chairman John Chadwick said: "Ian could not agree terms with Oldham and is a pleasing capture for us. Rochdale and Swinton were also interested but we moved quickly on learning that he was available."

And after increasing the squad to 25 with addition of Hodson, Chadwick added: "That looks like it for next season now."

Despite enjoying their most successful season to date in 2008, the Fylde-based club have again made significant personnal changes, with new faces accounting for 40 per cent of the squad.

Next season's fixtures are due to be announced on Monday week.

Panthers 2009 squad: Paul Alcock, Mel Alker, John Boland, Chris Campbell, John Clough, Robert Draper, Peter Fairhurst, Chris Farrimond, Chris Forster, John Hill, Ian Hodson, Darryl Kaye, Martin Keavney, Wes Lawton, Jonny Leather, Andrew Marsh, Mark McCully, Chris Mugan, Damien Munro, Kris Ratcliffe, Andy Sands, Simon Svabic, Kieran Tucker, Craig Tunstead, Tom Wild.
