Arnold School's Under-14s have won through to the North of England final in the National Schools Hockey Competition for the fourth successive year.
Four weeks after becoming Lancashire champions, Arnold competed against the other county champions from the region at Timperley Hockey Club in Cheshire.

In their first group match, they defeated West Yorkshire's Tapton School 3-0 thanks to Hannah Hesketh's opener, a fine individual goal by Holly Monteiro and Charlotte Evans' goal, following good play from Lydia Wright.

Maghan Fearn and Evans scored the second-half goals which sealed a 2-0 win over Wilmslow School and secured a semi-final place against Merchant Taylor's School from Crosby.

Hannah Hesketh and Jessica Omassoli made it 2-0 at half-time but the Merseyside school pulled one back before Monteiro sealed a 3-1 win.

Arnold will play Cheadle Hulme School from Stockport in the North final at Belle Vue, Manchester.

* Arnold emerged unbeaten from games against Altrincham. The first XI took the lead when Georgia Perkins converted Harley Greene's cross.

Stephanie Lees was dangerous and Cara Smith went close to a second but the equaliser arrived with 10 minutes left.

The Second XI game also ended 1-1 but this time Altrincham scored first. Heather Roberts and Faye Shearer linked up well for the equaliser scored by Emily Pomeroy.

Right winger Lara Cherry was outstanding for the Under-15s and Charlotte Greenwood scored the only goal from Charlotte Wells' pass.

Striker Emily Adams scored all the goals in the Under-13s' 4-0 win. Jessica Omassoli and Lucy Dale also played well.

The senior sides both enjoyed fine wins over Stonyhurst College. Scorers in the First XI's 12-0 win were Stephanie Lees (4), Harley Greene (3), Cara Smith (2), Georgina Read (2) and Georgia Perkins.

Emily Foster, Camilla Dunlop and Chloe Stafford excelled in the Second XI's 6-0 win.

* Kirkham Grammar School had the better of the four Under-12 games against Arnold, losing only one.

Lucy Gardiner's hat-trick clinched a 3-1 win in the A game, in which Francesca Beeby replied. Arnold's win came in the B game courtesy of the only goal by Polly Carr. The C game was goalless and Kirkham won the D match 2-1.

Kirkham gave Arnold a boost, however, by beating their under-14s' North of England final rivals Cheadle Hulme 2-1.

In seven matches against the Stockport school KGS lost only one – the first XI fixture which finished 2-1.

There were wins for KGS Seconds 4-1, Under-15s 5-0 and Under-12A 5-0, while the Under-13s and Under-12B both drew.

KGS also won both matches against Altrincham Girls without conceding – the Second XI scored two and the Under-16s four.

* KING Edward VII and Queen Mary's School enjoyed excellent results at Bradford Grammar. The first XI maintained their unbeaten record 2-0 after the midweek win over Rivington and Blackrod.

Flying winger Megan Foy was in fine form and Katie Holder went close several times but the first half ended goalless.

Jessica Lambert broke the deadlock with a great strike and Hannah Shaw bagged the second with a reverse stick shot.

The Under-15s were 6-0 winners, with winger Natasha Singleton netting four and Olivia Shaw two.

The Under-14 and Under-13s won 9-0 (Georgia Coughlin 3, Rachel Hirst 3, Philippa Wood 2, Lily Chadwick) and 8-0 (Abigail Gitsham 4, Lucy Johnson 2 Georgina Fox 2) respectively.

The Year 7 A team won 2-1 as Laura Stokes scored both and the B team drew 1-1, with Hollie Cornwall on target for the second match in a row.
