Once again we, the people of Fleetwood and surrounding areas, are expected to welcome new plans for gas storage to be put in our area, with all the attendant risks and fears for our lives, and our loved one's lives.
We will not accept the plans for gas
storage here. How many times do we have to tell you this? We would be mad to accept the plans, and mad we are not.
So go and find somewhere else to put these mad schemes.
May E Poole
Mount Road, Fleetwood With reference to the letter from Philip Emery (The Gazette, June 27) regarding the new application from Canatxx for the
storing of gas.
I am not one for writing to newspapers, but on reading his letter concerning
'nimbies', I was very angry having members of my family living in Hambleton, Stalmine and Preesall. Heaven forbid if Canatxx did get permission, and anything was to go wrong, as in America. It would devastate my family.
I am a pensioner, who does not mind having the rise in prices, not just for heating.
I will gladly support any attempt to block this plan again.

Radcliffe Road, FleetwoodPhilip Emery's letter, (The Gazette, June 27), in my opinion, has to rank as one of the most ill-informed, and insulting pieces of
correspondence I have read for a long time.
The people who raised objections to the Canatxx application did so due to fears about the safety of the scheme and the effect to the wild life in the area
To call objectors 'nimbies' is a gross insult to both the integrity and intelligence of the population of Fleetwood, Thornton, Poulton, and those living in Hambleton, Stalmine, Preesall, and Knott End.
If either application is lodged, with the same, or similar weaknesses, the fight goes on.

Poulton Residents' Association,
Station Road, PoultonWhy object to new job?I WRITE in response to Councillor Peter Callow's objections to the
appointment of Roy Fisher to the Chair of the Primary Care Trust (PCT) (The Gazette, July 1).
As he says, Mr Fisher is a former council leader – former being the operative word.
Surely, as a man who held such a responsible position for so long, Mr Fisher is more than qualified to take on the roll and will bring a wealth of experience and
professionalism to the table.
Perhaps then if Councillor
Callow was to be offered similar positions in future years, he will be declining them.
As for suggesting that Mr Fisher will go running to his Labour
colleagues with boardroom
secrets, this is an insult to the man and his integrity.
If that is how Councillor Callow thinks of anyone who is not a
Conservative party member, then Blackpool is in for a bleak future.

BlackpoolMemory Lane nice surpriseWhat a pleasant surprise to read about Queenie Hancock in Memory Lane (The Gazette, June 28)
Despite failing eyesight,
Queenie is an active member of our society and is always ready for a story or two.
We would welcome more of Queenie's ilk at our monthly
meetings.
We meet at the new Monterey Beach Hotel, North Promenade, St.Annes on the third Wednesday of the month at 8pm.
Admission and membership is free and all are welcome.
Our next weekend is July 16th at 8pm.

Pilling Avenue, St Annes Different fees for car parkingCan anybody at Blackpool Council tell me why parking at the Houndshill's car park is 50p for one hour, but West Street car park still costs £1.20
The council promised us weeks ago they were going to reduce prices in all the car parks.
However, it seems they still haven't done it.
They put the payments up overnight but how long does it take to reduce them.
I am a regular user of these car parks so it's annoying that I have to make a beeline for Houndshill because West Street is so expensive.

Drakelowe Avenue BlackpoolPier Legends are first classMy friend and I have been going to Legends on Central Pier for three years and the show certainly gets better and better.
Tom Bright, the Compere and comedian, is the best we have ever seen and the whole show is first class.
We will be going to see Legends as long as the show is on the Pier.
Where else could you see legends such as Elvis, Freddie Mercury, Robbie Williams, and many others, all performing together on the same stage?
Let's not forget the show also features a good orchestra.
All I can say is long may they carry on!
