WHAT a difference a few days makes...
St Annes pool has been boarded-up over the weekend following the controversial decision to shut the much-loved facility on Thursday.

During the run up to the final days of the pool, people had been flocking to enjoy a final swim at the baths.

But the pool, which will lie empty while a decision is taken on its long-term future, has now had its windows and doors protected on safety grounds.

Town hall bosses say the facility is being put into storage until a decision is taken.

A council spokesman said: "This is part of security measures to help protect the building from vandals.

"The pool is also being drained, which will take a few days to complete."

Disgraceful, more boarded up premises in St. Annes!!!!!!!!! perhaps the local hotels could offer swim deals, speculate to accumulate!!!! half the time their pools are empty, they could provide a swim only membership????

Not only a great shame that the pool is closed but also that the closure and boarding up had to take place in the height of the holiday season.

It is such a shame that St Annes has no where for visitors to go to when the weather is poor with their children, and that the councillors don't seem to care that there is nowhere other than a sewage infested sea for the local children to swim in. But then again, they won't be able to swim in the sea because there's nowhere for them to learn to swim in in the first place!! Theyre even warning that Kirkham might close so what happens then I don't know. They can't rely on people going to neighboring boroughs.

AlanT - visitors to Nimbyville-on-Sea have plenty of places to go when it's raining there.

There are plenty of stations on the under-utilised South Fylde Branch line that they could go to and catch a train. For only a tenner return a person they could go to Preston or for just a few quid more go to Blackpool or Manchester....:)
