FYLDE action hero Jonas Armstrong is to quit hit show Robin Hood at the end of the forthcoming series, it has been revealed.
The St Annes born heart-throb, who learned his trade at Arnold School, will hang up his bow and arrow for good after the third-series of the BBC Saturday teatime favourite, which goes out next year.

Grateful

The 27-year-old, who had parts in Teachers and Ghost Squad before his Sherwood Forest role, said today: "Over the last three years I have met some wonderful people and have only amazing memories to take with me.

"I'm grateful to the fans for their support and to all the cast and crew for their friendship and loyalty throughout, but the time has come to take on new challenges and look at new opportunities."

Despite the loss of its star man, the BBC has refused to confirm whether the series will end with Jonas' departure.
