ANGRY St Annes residents want Fylde Council to remove a "disgraceful" eyesore which they say is invading their privacy.
Peter Slattery, of Snowdon Road, his son Scott and neighbour Robert Prestwich are fed up with looking out of their homes on to a giant, unsightly portable building in the waste services depot.
The neighbours also say they have to put up with noise from more than 30 council vehicles leaving the depot every morning, some revving their engines as early as 5.30am.
Mr Slattery, 47, said: "The cabin is an eyesore. It's the size of two houses put together.
"I can see it from my lounge, it's just there in your face.
"We don't want to look out of our windows on to a big portable building, it's a disgrace.
"It's taking our privacy away.
"We've been told it's not a permanent fixture but it's got drains, electrics and running water.
"All we can hear are the workers.
"And you can hear engines revving at 5.30am, it wakes us up.
"There's no respect. They don't care if they don't live here."
Robert Prestwich, 45, says the noise coming from the cabin and the wagons is getting too much to handle – especially for his 73-year-old mother, Joan, who came out of hospital on Saturday after having a cancerous lump removed from her leg.
He said: "We know they've got to go out, they've got a business to run, but there are more vehicles recently.
Disgruntled
"There are 30 to 40 vehicles coming and going from 5.45am.
Mr Prestwich, who has lived in the house for 34 years, says he feels disgruntled that the council did not consult him or his neighbours about erecting the cabin so close to their homes.
He added: "They've put this thing at the side of our house.
"The cabin is only about 4ft away from the fence and towers above it, overlooking our front garden and the front of the house.
"My mum's bedroom is at the front so she is getting disturbed by all the noise. She's come home from hospital to this.
"It's really annoyed me that they didn't inform us about it.
"They won't do anything about it now.
"It's the fumes, the smell, the shouting and banging.
"We are not happy."
