POLICE were cheered on by the public as they stopped and seized cars in a crime crackdown.
Officers set up a checkpoint on Broadway in Fleetwood and arrested three people while ordering 10 vehicles off the road.
Police say they were delighted by the results and the reaction from locals.
"People in the area were very supportive and some were clapping and telling us to get cars seized," said Sgt Steve Bell.
New number plate recognition technology was used to target vehicles being driven illegally.
Also involved in the checks were Customs and Excise, DVLA, the Benefits Agency and the Vehicle Inspectorate.
One person was arrested for driving without a licence and two on outstanding arrest warrants.
Ten drivers were ordered to take their cars off the road because they the vehicles were unsafe and one driver was found working while claiming benefits.
Two motorists had no road tax.
Three vehicles had no insurance and one was using an untaxed form of diesel which resulted in the driver getting an
on-the-spot fine of £500.
Sgt Bell added: "This is about making the roads safer, although it was not all about prosecution. There were other minor issues which we got people to rectify. They brought vehicles back to us which were then passed for driving.
"It's a reassurance for the local community that we are addressing issues in their area."
The checkpoint is part of operation Not In My Neighbourhood which began two weeks ago and has resulted in 22 arrests for a variety of matters.
Two people have been charged with burglary, two were cautioned for possession of illegal drugs and there were seven arrests of people suspected of involvement in auto crime.
Sgt Ness Gregson added: "This operation has had a really good result for us.
"We now intend concentrating on other areas such as criminal damage."

Good on the traffic officers - keep up the good work! Why should there be one law for some on the road whilst rest of us pay t taxes?
