The Royal Oak in Lord Street, known locally as Dead’uns, closed on Monday after landlady Linda Hardy announced her retirement.

The boozer was known for its live music - with acts performing each Friday - and for its lively Sunday afternoon karaoke sessions.
But rumours began circulating last month suggesting the pub was set to close.
Last week, management posted on Facebook saying rising costs and an increase in staff wages due to the new national minimum wage had made it increasingly difficult to run the pub at a profit.

“Over the past 10 and a half years since our opening, we have been fortunate to have met and worked with some wonderful staff and musicians and most importantly you our valued customers.
“This is a sad day for us but every journey must end one day, and I will now finally be able to retire.
“Our family appreciate all the support you have given us over the past few years and it is with a heavy heart that we will close our doors for the last time on Monday.
