Burst main leaves homes without water

THOUSANDS of homes were without water last night following a burst main in a field in Garstang.
Houses in the Forton, Scorton, Nateby and Winmarleigh areas were affected following the leak as engineers carried out repairs to a 24in diameter pipe.

United Utilties said today the supply was now back on.

How come there's been no mention of the power cut the other night that affected 2000 homes in the FY3 area?
Utilities people said it was a power surge. Probably caused by the lightning as we lost power at the same time as the lightning flashed.
