A man has been arrested after an elderly woman had her bag snatched from her in Fleetwood on Sunday (February 21).

Police took to social media to share CCTV images of a suspect after the pensioner was mugged by a man in Rossall Grange Lane, near Fleetwood Golf Club, yesterday.

The public appeal led to a suspect being identified and a man, aged 42, has since been arrested on suspicion of theft.

The man, from Fleetwood, remains in custody this morning (Monday, February 22).

A police spokesman said: "Following our CCTV image appeal to trace a man after an elderly woman had her bag stolen on Rossall Grange Lane yesterday, we have arrested a 42-year-old man from Fleetwood on suspicion of theft. He remains in custody at this time."
